Bike Maintenance
All bikes are assembled by Front Bike Hire staff who are trained Cytech 1 cycle mechanics. Bikes are assembled according to British Standard BS6102 and are checked before every hire to ensure they are in full working order.
Safe Cycling
Please bear these points in mind to ensure the safety and convenience of yourself and others.
Helmets
Cycle helmets are included in the price of all hires. We recommend that you wear a cycle helmet but there is no legal requirement to do so.
Cycle Routes
There are many cycle routes leading from our base on Bournemouth Seafront. These allow you to avoid roads and vehicles.
The cycle route network is constantly being expanded, please visit out map page for links through to sites offering details of local and regional cycle routes.
Pedestrian Safety
Bournemouth Seafront is a shared route and pedestrians have priority at all times. In particular cyclists should look out for small children and dogs who will often run across your path without warning.
There is a 10mph speed limit on the seafront at all times. This should be strictly adhered to and on the spot fines are issued to cyclists who break the speed limit.
Cycling Restrictions
Some areas of the seafront have fulltime and seasonal cycling restrictions.
During July and August there are greater restrictions in place between 10am and 6pm.
All restrictions are clearly marked and our staff on the seafront can advise you on the many routes that run directly from our base that have no restrictions at any time
